Improper Pitch or tuning is just awful on the ears. Guitar Strings vibrate at specific frequencies that blend to crate harmony. Accurate precice guitar tuning makes practicing sound better...period.

There are some great online tuner sowtware such as AP Free Tuner that is very accurate. There are also numerous tuner pedals for live stage applications. All work pretty good just depends on what you have to spend.
